Ambi – ‘Scissiparité’
Ambi – ‘Scissiparité’
Joro Andrianasolo, 1 April 2014.
For her first Malagasy exhibition, “A-fo” (fire, but also “fo,” the heart), shown at Is’art Galerie from 30 January to 5 February, Ambi discusses several of her paintings. She talks about “Scissiparité,” an organic piece evoking cell division and motherhood, and about her path from architecture to fine arts in Aix-en-Provence. She also discusses fire, which she prefers to see as creative rather than destructive. Finally, she recalls the two years of legal proceedings she fought, as a student, against a deportation threat, a struggle that gave rise to the painting “Indignez-vous.”
I don’t want to dictate what they should see in it. Everyone can interpret it as they like.
