A-fo, From France to Madagascar

The exhibition “A-fo” by Ambinintsoa Andriankajarivelo continues at Is’Art Galerie Analakely until 5 February, following its run in France. The article details the centrepiece, “Scissiparité,” a large, organic and evolving puzzle tracing the path of fire. It describes the other paintings as an “artistic therapy” for difficult moments in the artist’s life, notably recounted in “État civil.” While in Madagascar, she plans to organise workshops and meetings to promote Malagasy fine arts.

As a child, I walked across plains eaten away by bush fires. I wondered how I could help stop it. At the same time, I was fascinated by the traces fire left behind.
